Sheffield Eagles’ and Papua New Guinea international Menzie Yere rubbed shoulders with royalty at the Commenwealth reception at Buckingham Palace.
The Kits to Kids foundation was set up to help send donated sporting gear back to Yere’s native Papua New Guinea. The foundation was launced after it was revealed that Yere was purchasing 2 pairs of boots each month and sending them back home for players less fortunate than him where Rugby League is classed as the national sport.
He spoke with the Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall about the Eagles great season and Kits 2 Kids which to date has sent over 50 tons of sportswear and equipment back to Papua New Guinea.
This has been down to the generous donations from a wide variety of both professional and amateur sports clubs across the UK.
The foundation was established with the help of Chris Noble MBE, Keith Thompson, Simon Proctor and industrial re-location experts, H & W Lift and Shift.
